Choosing Checks for my Household, Part I
~ This was posted on April 25, 2009
I am what you would have once called a housewife – a term that is no longer too socially acceptable, at least in the circles in which I move. The women who stay home in my area are busy, vibrant women who often do a million things at once – some even working from home so they can balance career and household. It’s never easy doing what we do but we love it and we wouldn’t have it any other way. I have never been without some job or another but I always manage to find something part time that I can do from home and I have had the privilege – as a result – not to have to worry about childcare or the logistics of working outside of the home.
But I run my house like a business anyway; I figure it’s my job while I’m doing this exclusively. And so I run a very organized home with a routine that I stick to and it makes me feel good and accomplished. Part of what I always try to do is to save money any way that I can, as living on one full time salary – and the little I bring in part time here and there – is difficult. I was on a mission to reduce what we were paying on even the little things. And so I even turned my attention to our checks.
I had been getting the same bank checks for years and years and every year I seem to be paying more. But more than anything they had long stopped being anything that I was interested in – in terms of design. They were just something I ordered without giving much thought to it. But finally – in looking at less expensive alternatives to ordering checks – I found an online option that would not only save money but give me many more options in check designs. More in the next post…
